Privacy Notice (For Customers)

 

  1. About Us?

 

We are the Cameroon Postal Services (abbreviated “CAMPOST”. We are the historical Postal operator of CAMEROON.

 

Among other products, we offer a digital banking solution called CampostMoney, abbreviated as “CAMO”.

 

The CAMPOST Company which provides you with the Campostoney product or service concerned will be responsible for the collection, processing and archiving of your personal data within the strict framework of the Campostmoney activity.

 

Our mission is to continue to provide you with quality financial products and services, together with the peace of mind knowing that the confidentiality and security of your personal information is our top priority. We understand your concerns about protecting and securing the information about you and your account and we want to assure you that we have taken necessary and required steps, and will continue to take steps to safeguard that information.

 

This privacy statement explains the personal data CAMPOST collects, how CAMPOST processes it, and for what purposes. This statement should be read together with the Terms and Conditions of Use for other CAMPOST MONEY services. Where there is a conflict, this statement will prevail. This statement applies to all customers, suppliers, agents, merchants, Independent agencies and all visitors frequenting any of CAMPOST premises.

 

When we refer to “CAMPOST”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this notice, it is a reference to the company mentioned above.

 

  1. How do we collect my Information?

 

It is important that we collect and maintain accurate personal information about you to serve you better and manage your business. We collect your personal information with your knowledge and consent.

These data, including any picture or video are sent to CampostMoney Orbit backend to analyze and process so as to ensure you safe and protected browsing in our services.

We collect information when you do any of the following (please note that this list is not exhaustive):

  • Open an mobile Current, mobile Savings, ASCA and ROSCA accounts on CampostMoney system;
  • Buy, subscribe to or use a CampostMoney product or service on every of its distribution channels;
  • Ask CAMPOST for more information about a product or service or contact CAMPOST with a query or complaint;
  • Respond to or participate in a survey, marketing promotion, prize competition or special offer;
  • Visit, access or use CAMPOST or third-party websites;
  • We may also collect your information from other organizations including merchants, billers, other financial institutions and fraud prevention agencies;
  • We may collect your information when you interact with us as a supplier, agent, merchant, retailer, dealer or partner as prescribed in this statement;
  • We also collect information when you visit any of our premises.

We do not onboard minors (any person under 21 years of age) except where you additionally register on their behalf as their parent and/ or legal guardian. If you allow a minor to use our services, you should be aware that their personal information could be collected as described in this statement.

 

  1. What personal information do we collect about You?

 

The information we collect and store about you includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Your identity and mobile phone number linked to your SIM-card, and any registration information.
  • Your name, address, location, date of birth, age, biometrics and gender.
  • your email address, phone number and details of the device you use (for example, your phone, computer or tablet)

 

  • Copies of your identification documents (for example, your National Identity Card, or passport or driving license) and any other information you provide to prove you are eligible to use our services.

 

  • Your image in photo or video form (where required as part of our Know-Your-Customer (KYC) checks, to verify that you are a real person when you open the account from the CampostMoney application, and to verify your identity if you contact us)

 

  • Your contact information, phonebook and call history for purpose of Chat and messaging service.
  • Name, family details, age, profiling information such as level of education, bank account status, income brackets, and generally all information you provide when you apply for loan, including details about your, or your spouse’s, income and financial obligations etc. collected as part of surveys conducted by CAMPOST and their agents on behalf of CAMPOST for demographic and microloans purposes.
  • Your account and transaction information, such as your handset type/model, account balances, payment history and your use of your account.
  • We may obtain information such as the balances of your loans with other lenders and your payment history with others from consumer reporting agencies.
  • We may obtain information such as your Internet service provider, your e-mail address, your computer’s operating system and web browser, your web site use and your product and service preferences from your visits to web sites.

 

Whenever you use our website or the CampostMoney app, we collect the following information:

 

  • Technical information, including the internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the internet, your login information, the browser type and version, the time zone setting, the operating system and platform, the type of device you use, a unique device identifier (for example, your device's IMEI number, the MAC address of the device's wireless network interface, or the mobile phone number used by the device), mobile network information, your mobile operating system and the type of mobile browser you use
  • Information about your visit, including the links you’ve clicked on, through and from our website or app (including date and time), services you viewed or searched for, page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling and clicks),and methods used to browse away from the page
  • Information on transactions and your use of CampostMoney products (for example, payments into and out of your account), including the date, time, amount, currencies, exchange rate, beneficiary details, details of the merchant or ATMs associated with the transaction (including merchants’ and ATMs’ locations), IP address of sender and receiver, sender's and receiver's name and registration information, messages sent or received, details of device used to arrange the payment and the payment method used
  • Information stored on your device, including if you give us access to contact information from your contacts list. The CampostMoney app will regularly collect this information in order to stay up to date (but only if you have given us permission)

 

  1. What is the legal basis for using your personal data?

 

We must have a legal basis (a valid legal reason) for using your personal data. Our legal basis will be one of the following:

 

  1. Keeping to our contracts and agreements with you

We need certain personal data to provide our services and cannot provide them without this personal data.

 

  1. Legal obligations

In some cases, we have a legal responsibility to collect and store your personal data (for example, under Central Bank Law on Know-Your-Customer, and anti-money laundering laws, we must hold certain information about our customers).

 

  1. Substantial public interest

Where we process your personal data, or your sensitive personal data (sometimes known as special category personal data), to adhere to government regulations or guidance, such as our obligation to support you if you are or become a vulnerable customer.

 

  1. Consent

Where you've agreed to us collecting your personal data, or sensitive personal data, for example when you tick a box to indicate you’re happy for us to use your personal data in a certain way.

 

 

  1. How we use your personal Information?

 

We may use and analyses your information for the following purposes:

  1. Responding to any of your queries or concerns;
  2. Verifying your identity information through publicly available and/or restricted government databases in order to comply with applicable regulatory requirements;
  3. Carrying out credit checks and credit scoring;
  4. Keeping you informed generally about new products and services and contacting you with offers or promotions based on how you use our or third-party products and services unless you opt out of receiving such marketing messages (you may contact CAMPOST at any time to opt out of receiving marketing messages);
  5. To comply with any legal, governmental or regulatory requirement or for use by our lawyers in connection with any legal proceedings;
  6. In business practices including to quality control, training and ensuring effective systems operations;
  7. To understand how you use our network, products and services for purposes of developing or improving products and services;
  8. To identify and protect the customer account on the use of financial services.

 

  1. Who we share your personal data with?

 

We limit the sharing of information with others. We control the information used to make the offer from third parties, we do not share the list or any information about our customers with organizations. However, we may choose to send offers from our partners which we think may be interesting to some of our customers based on their preferences and characteristics, please understand that if you do receive this type of offer from us and choose to take advantage of it, the retailer may then learn information about you directly and all your further business dealings with this organization is not at our approval or liability.

 

There are, however, circumstances in which we may share the information we collect about you, as described in Section 2, with other companies in order to provide you with access to products and services and to service your Account effectively, as detailed below. We require these companies to adhere to our privacy standards and to use this information only for the limited purpose for which it was shared. We do not allow them to disclose it to others without our prior approval.

 

 

a. Sharing personal information for legal reasons.

 

We share your personal data with other financial institutions, government authorities, law enforcement authorities, tax authorities, companies and fraud prevention agencies to check your identity, protect against fraud, keep to tax laws, anti-money laundering laws, or any other laws and confirm that you’re eligible to use our products and services.

 

b. Sharing personal information to our suppliers.

 

We share your personal data with Suppliers who provide us with IT, payment and delivery services, to our banking and financial services partners and payments networks, to our Communications services providers, in order to help us provide our services to you, and to help us to send you emails, push notifications and text message

 

 

c. Sharing personal information with our partners.

 

Our partners may offer a variety of products and services that can help you manage your finances. In order to provide you with access to these products and services, we may share the information we collect about you, as described in Section 2, with such partner, these partners include financial service providers that offer insurance and travel services, credit protection, card servicing and payment processing services.

 

d. Sharing personal information with non-affiliated parties for marketing purposes

 

We may share the information we collect about you, as described in Section 2, with non-affiliated third parties, including those that accept Paymenex™ including D-Vouchers in order to provide you with access to products and services offered directly by these companies that may be of value to you. These companies include Paymenex members, banks, micro financial institutions, financial service providers, such as insurance companies, money remittance and payment companies, and non-financial companies, such as retailers.

 

e. Sharing Personal information with others

 

We may share the information we collect about you, as described in Section 2, with companies that perform support or marketing services on our behalf, such as mailing, market research and data processing; other financial institutions with which we have joint marketing agreements, or companies that are our partners for co-branded programs or Reward programs. We may also share such information as permitted by law.

 

  1. How do we protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of information about you?

 

We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect the information we collect about you. Access to such information is restricted to individuals who need it in order to service your account or provide products and services to you, and who are trained in the proper handling of such information. Employees who violate these confidentiality requirements are subject to our disciplinary process.

It is important that the information we maintain about you is accurate and complete. If you see information elsewhere which suggests that our information is incomplete or inaccurate, please contact us so that we can update this information.

 

Electronic data, including image, video and databases are stored on secure computer systems with control over access to information using both physical and electronic means. Our staff receives data protection and information security training. We have detailed security and data protection policies which staff are required to follow when they handle your personal data.

 

While we take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal data will be kept secure from unauthorized access, we cannot guarantee it will be secure during transmission by you to our app, a website or other services. We use HTTPS (HTTP Secure), where the communication protocol is encrypted through Transport Layer Security for secure communication over networks, for all our app, web and payment-processing services.

 

If you use a password for the CampostMoney app or our website, you will need to keep this password confidential. Please do not share it with anyone.

 

When you use our public services, which includes our social network accounts, do not share any personal data that you don't want to be seen, collected or used by other customers, as this personal data will become publicly available.

 

  1. Your Rights

 

We respect your privacy and offer you choices as to whether we may share information about you with others. You have the option to tell us not to share the information we collect about you, as described in Section 2, with non - affiliated third parties. You also have the option to tell us not to share certain information we collect about you, as described in Section 2, with our partners. However, this option is limited to information about your eligibility and credibility as may be required to provide a CampostMoney service to you.  If you indicate a preference for either of these options, please understand that you may not receive offers for products and services provided by other partners that could help you lower your costs, maximize your financial resources or manage your finances. To indicate your preferences, please contact us. If you have previously notified us about your privacy preferences, it is not necessary to do so again unless you decide to change your preferences. Your written request should include your name, address, telephone number and card serial number(s) and should not be sent with any other correspondence. In order to process your request, we require that the request be provided by you directly and not through a third party. You will need to provide us with your preferences for each Paymenex™ card account you have.

 

You may notify us about your preferences at any time. Your request will remain in effect until you notify us otherwise. We will honour your request and not share this information except as permitted by law. For example, law permits us to share information about you with consumer reporting agencies, service providers and financial institutions with which we have joint marketing agreements. It also permits us to share information about our experiences and transactions with you, such as your account balance and payment history with our partners.

 

  1. Information disclosure

 

Any disclosure of your information shall be in accordance with applicable law and regulations. CAMPOST shall assess and review each application for information and may decline to grant such information to the requesting party.

 

Some of your information may be passed on to any person whom you receive mobile money from or send or intend to send mobile money to. Your information may be available to any third party involved in the operation of the mobile money/banking service including Merchants, mobile money interoperability partners, ATM Switch providers and partners of the CampostMoney transfer technology platform.

 

  1. Your Rights to Access and Correct Your Personal Information

 

We can assist you to access and correct your personal information held by us. Where you wish to have access to your personal information in CampostMoney’s possession, or where you are of the opinion that such personal information held by us is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or not up-to-date, you may change it yourself on your CampostMoney Mobile App on Profile & Setting menu.

If the information you wish to update is not available for update on your CampostMoney Mobile App, you may contact our Customer Service Channels (Check Contact-Us section). We will use reasonable efforts to comply with your request to access or correct your personal information within 14 banking days of receiving your duly completed consent and supporting document (if any).

 

Please note that We may have to withhold access to your personal information in certain situations, for example when we are unable to confirm your identity or where information requested for is of a confidential commercial nature or in the event we receive repeated requests for the same information. Nevertheless, we will notify you of the reasons for not being able to accede to your request.

 

Please also note that we may use our discretion in allowing the corrections requested and/or may require further documentary evidence of the new information to avoid fraud and inaccuracy. We encourage you to always keep your personal information (such as your mailing address or mobile number) up to date on your CampostMoney mobile app, as it will enable us to serve you better.

 

  1. Amendments to this Statement

CAMPOST reserves the right to amend or modify this statement at any time. If CAMPOST amends this statement, you can access the most current version of the privacy statement by clicking this link https://www.campostmoney.com/cm-fr/privacy, so that you will always know how your personal information is being used or shared. Any amendment or modification to this statement will take effect from the date of notification on the CampostMoney website.
